Genghis Khan lived from 1162-1227. He was known as Temujin in the early half of his life and later became Temujin Khan, eventually to take on the title Genghis Khan, meaning ruler of rulers. After his father was poisoned and killed. Temujin’s family became an outcast clan living on the fringes of the rest of the tribe. The Mongols were a nomadic empire boasting eleven million square miles of territory, the largest empire in world history. Genghis Khan had five wives, four ruling sons, and an unknown number of additional offspring. The Great Khan died at sixty-five years of age during a campaign to take over the Tangut.
