Scandals of the Khan
There are many scandals surrounding the reputation of Genghis Khan. These scandals include the brief period he was enslaved as a child (which is not well documented), murdering his older half-brother to become the leading male of the family, taking five wives and having numerous concubines, the slaughtering and vicious overtaking of towns and small civilizations if they did not submit to Mongol rule, tension in the Khan’s immediate family over who fathered his oldest son, Jochi, and the uncertain cause of his death along with the uncertainty of his burial place.
